The Kiss was created by artist Gary Alsum from a 2004 photograph of Deborah Wood and her late husband, Breck, a long-time resident of Virginia Beach. The photograph depicts the pair kissing on a bench on the pier of their home in Currituck County, NC. Mrs. Wood, who commissioned the statue for her husband, wanted to share with others the love that she and her husband had by capturing this tender moment for eternity.
