Call for Artists: 2024-25 Sandler Center Art Gallery Opportunities
The City of Virginia Beach Cultural Affairs Department and Sandler Center for the Performing Arts are seeking artists to display their work in the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts Art Gallery during the 2024-25 season. Exhibition opportunities are free to the artist/artist group. See below for more information about eligibility, the application process and more about these exhibition opportunities.
Eligibility
Emerging and established 2D artists living and working in Hampton Roads. Group exhibitions are also encouraged.
- Mediums may include painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, etc.
- Only original artwork is exhibited and must be appropriate for viewing by the general public.
- Sculpture, ceramics, installation, video, and other 3D mediums are not accepted at this time.
Application Process
To apply for an exhibition, send current resume or CV, artist statement, artist bio, 5-10 images of your current work and an image list with title, medium, year, and dimensions to: artsinfo@vbgov.com .
All applications will be reviewed by a selection panel established by the Virginia Beach Cultural Affairs Department.
Exhibition Information
The Sandler Center Art Gallery is located on the second and third floors of the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts, 201 Market St, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
- Exhibitions rotate every 3-4 months.
- All exhibitions will be installed by the Cultural Affairs Department and Sandler Center staff.
- Artwork is installed on a cable hanging system, therefore all artwork must be wired; no saw-tooth hangers, glass clip or poster frames accepted.
- No sales commission is taken by the Cultural Affairs Department or Sandler Center. Any and all sales must be conducted directly between the buyer and the artist.
The Cultural Affairs Department does not prohibit artists from exhibiting more than once in the gallery, however, it is asked that an exhibiting artist wait at least five years before reapplying.
